Questions Buyers SHOULD Ask their Realtor
My top questions every Buyer should ask me:
- Why should I choose you over another REALTOR®?
- How many buyers have you successfully helped recently?
- How do you negotiate to save your clients money?
- What makes your service different?
- How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
- What happens if we encounter inspection issues?
- How do you help me avoid overpaying?
- Do you have a network of trusted professionals I'll need?
- What support do you provide after closing?
- If you were buying this home yourself, what advice would you give me?
- What can I expect from you that goes beyond simply helping me buy a house?
Additional items to consider and ask:
"How do you determine if a home is overpriced?"
Your agent should explain comparable sales, current competition, market conditions, and appraisal considerations—not just suggest a lower offer.
"What are the hidden costs of owning this home?"
This includes:
- Property taxes
- HOA dues
- Insurance
- Utility costs
- Maintenance
- Future replacement of major systems
"How do you help me build equity?"
An experienced agent should discuss:
- Location
- Appreciation trends
- Renovation opportunities
- Resale potential
- Neighborhood growth
"What could make this home difficult to sell later?"
A skilled REALTOR® should point out factors like:
- Busy streets
- Functional obsolescence
- Poor floor plans
- Deferred maintenance
- Over-improvements
- Neighborhood influences
"How do you protect me from making an emotional decision?"
Buying a home is emotional, but a great agent brings objective advice by evaluating:
- Fair market value
- Inspection concerns
- Financing implications
- Long-term investment potential
- Exit strategy
