A Major Shift in Real Estate: Real Broker Acquires RE/MAX

The real estate industry just experienced one of its most significant consolidations in recent years.

On August 24, 2026, Real Broker officially completed its acquisition of RE/MAX Holdings, bringing together one of real estate’s fastest-growing technology-driven brokerages with one of the most recognized real estate brands in the world.

The approximately $880 million transaction creates a new parent company, Real REMAX Group, representing more than 180,000 real estate professionals across 120+ countries and territories.

What Does This Mean for Real Estate?

The combination is significant because the two companies bring very different strengths to the table. RE/MAX has more than 50 years of brand recognition and a massive international franchise network, while Real has built its growth around a cloud-based brokerage model, technology and agent-focused tools.

For now, consumers and agents shouldn’t expect the two brands to suddenly become one. Real and RE/MAX will continue operating independently, with Real maintaining its existing brokerage model, technology platform and agent compensation structure, while RE/MAX retains its brand and franchise model.

Why This Matters

Real estate continues to evolve quickly. Technology, consolidation and changing consumer expectations are reshaping how agents and brokerages operate.

As a Real Broker agent, I’m excited to see how this combination expands the technology, resources and opportunities available to agents — ultimately helping us provide an even better experience for our clients.

One thing isn't changing: real estate remains a relationship business. Technology and scale can make us better and more efficient, but knowledgeable local representation and trusted advice still matter when making one of life's biggest financial decisions.

Thinking about buying or selling a home in Arizona? I’d love to help you understand today’s market and develop a strategy that works for you.

The factual details above are based on the companies’ announcement and reporting following the August 24 closing. (Business Wire)
